Despite these adversities, Feng has consistently maintained an optimistic outlook. During an association anniversary event, she unexpectedly reunited with her ex-husband, triggering a flood of memories from her past. It was through this encounter that we came to understand the story of her earlier life and finally comprehended the source of her enduring optimism in the face of life's hardships.

Director's Statement

This film originated from my involvement in a public welfare initiative, with its narrative focus centered on Feng Yiping and her family.
In crafting this documentary, I employed three key approaches:First, I adopted an observational documentary style, which allowed me to capture an abundance of authentic stories and subtle details.Second, particular attention was given to the film's visual language:Lateral camera movements: When filming the protagonist walking, I predominantly used lateral tracking shots. The repetition of this technique creates a distinct rhythmic quality.Utilization of off-screen space: This technique effectively expands and enriches the film's narrative depth and thematic resonance.Symbolic imagery: Elements like cicadas, alleyways, tombstones, and night rain serve as visual metaphors that evoke audience empathy and imagination while intensifying the film's emotional impact.Third, the film incorporates gender perspective reflections:As a woman, Feng Yiping spent her life yearning for love;As a daughter, she shouldered disproportionate family responsibilities; And as a mother, she encountered what would become the pivotal turning point of her life.
